A Grounded and Practical Approach
This training brings together real instrument skill, careful listening, musical understanding, and thoughtful attention to the people in the room.
The aim is to develop touch, sensitivity, restraint, awareness, and trust in how you work. The training is practical, human, and clear in its approach, with an emphasis on real learning and careful use of the instruments.
Who This Is For
This training may suit you if you are:
-
completely new and want a strong beginning
-
already playing a little and want more structure
-
interested in gong training in Brisbane
-
wanting a pathway that can grow over time
-
drawn to this work and ready to learn in a more thoughtful way
You do not need to be a professional musician. Curiosity, patience, and a willingness to listen closely are enough to begin.
Why This Pathway Is Structured Over Time
This training is intentionally spread across multiple weeks so you have time to go home, absorb what you’ve learnt, practise between sessions, return with questions, and let the experience settle into your hands and ears. Research on spaced learning suggests that revisiting material over time often supports stronger long-term retention than trying to take in everything in one concentrated block.
For this kind of work, that matters.

Beyond Level 1
Level 1 is the beginning of a broader training pathway.
Level 2 moves further into refinement, deeper listening, musicality, and a more developed understanding of how sound behaves and is perceived. It also deepens your sensitivity to pacing, atmosphere, participant experience, and the subtle choices that shape how a session feels in the room.
Level 3 moves into more advanced integration, session design, and mature practical application. This includes a deeper command of instruments and sound, a stronger ability to work with people, read a room, and shape a session with care, steadiness, and trust. It can also include more careful inquiry into sound-related ideas, beliefs, and claims, with an emphasis on discernment, evidence, and thoughtful practice.
